2018 let us continue to break our records, with ~17,000 LEDs on our trees and house. We were also listed as a house to see on two of the local lights listings, which was pretty neat.
Major elements of 2018:
Multi-color LED Strings (~17,000 LEDs): Most icicle strings, but we do have a bunch of normal strings and I have started to expand into some other LED lights (still small ones though) because the wide-angles that I liked are getting harder to find.
NOEL: DIY project consisting of 1/2" PVC letters that are positioned on our trellis. Each letter is 5ft tall and 3ft wide and is internally lit by a strip of RGB LED lights. They are all set to fade and slowly change colors which turns out to be pretty decent looking, but they could be set to do other things.
Inflatables: We are up to 13 inflatables this year. My wife found one in particular to go with the Tree Farm idea for the front yard. In all there are:
- Santa in a Camper
(Affectionately known as the "chucking Santa").
- Gingerbread House
- Penguins Mailing Letters
- Tree Farm Truck (new 2018)
- Santa Reading to Reindeer
- Hot Cocoa
- Polar Bears Sledding
- Hello Kitty
- Chipmunk
- Polar Bear Standing
- Elves and Santa Climbing a Ladder
- 2 Christmas Trees
Tree Farm - new 2018: In the front I made 8 small Christmas trees using tomato cages wrapped in garland and rope lights. We then added some inflatables to the mix and put it behind our big archway with a wreath at the top.
Really Big Lights: The RBLs from 2017 moved to the front porch so they would be easier to see this year. For more information on them, check out last year's
project page.
Couple more pictures... With the last one being the back of the tree farm, so the view we get from our front door.
